Well eventually linked up and he is visiting thursday I think - difficult to be certain. Will probably turn up in a top range 4x4 and look down his nose at me especially when he sees the ancient carpet, but then again he may take pitty on my poverty state as illustrated by the carpet and reduce his normal changes to a pittance.

Fireplace

Choosing a new fireplace is hell. Trying to be functional and astehetic is hell. Getting a good craftsman is hell - especially in Devon.

But we must plough on. Next step is to get a builder to do good work preparing the fireplace for the new wood burning fire.
